DESCRIPTION:  Siberian has travelled a long way from its origins in Siberia. Apparently, Alaskan fishermen acquired it when trading green leafy vegetables with Siberian farmers who grew only root crops such as garlic. After becoming commercially viable in Alaska, it has been propagated farther and farther away and has been found to do well in both cold and hot climates. The bulbs are quite beautiful and are large with purple striped wrappers. It appears to do well even in hotter southern climates where hardneck garlic has not really done grown well. A mellow cultivar and really good for cooking as it holds its flavor though it is less hot or intense than other Purple Stripes. Among the Marbled Purple Stripes it is definitely stronger tasting and superior.
